Rest In Peace Bubba

While walking around our vacation home neighborhood a few days ago I captured neighbor Larry "Bubba" Hopkins in a moment of sun bliss. He never knew I took this picture and it turns out to be the last one taken the day before he died. Unfortunately, he was hit by a truck riding his bicycle. He will be missed by many friends and family.

Bubba really knew how to grow some magnificent flowers. You don't need a whole lot to enjoy this world and he knew this. This little home is right across the street from a beautiful park and beach.

What a cute place. I'm sure the neighbors will keep these flowers going for as long as possible in honor of his memory.

Oh Penny, what a tragic loss. My heart goes out to all of his friends and relatives. It looks like he knew how to enjoy life and I hope he's as peaceful now as he was in that photo you snapped of him.
Hugs, Bridget

Penny, this is so terribly sad. How awful. His gardens were magnificent ... what a way to leave a mark - someone who brought beauty to everyone who came to him.

Oh Penny...this is such a loss to earth, but I'm sure a gain for Heaven. It just underscores the importance of living each & every day we have to the fullest, doesn't it? I think it was meant for you to pass that way & snap this photo. I send condolences to his family, friends, neighbors & you too. Hugs, Bo

What a tragic story... I'm so sorry for the loss of your neighbor. How interesting that something provoked you to snap his picture. Hmmmmm.

His flowers are beautiful and his little home is precious. Sad. Sad.

Penny, I wanted to thank you for posting this picture of Bubba. He was a very good friend of my fathers since the late 70;s. He was a hero to me when I was a little child and a great friend when I became an adult. Unfortunately it had been almost 8 months since I last spoke to him. My father received a phone call last night from a friend who read the obituaries in Bubba's home town. In searching for the obituarie listing I came across your picture. although I am extremely saddened by his passing, seeing this picture made me smile. It is exactly how I always pictured him. Shoe's off and looking at the sun.

Hi Penny, I am sorry for the loss of your friend, he did leave a lot of beauty around him, such a tragic story, I am sure all his neighbours will keep up his garden in his memory. how are you doing, have not seen you around for ages, thank you for stopping by and your sweet comment. I am using Picasa too, I tried Big Huge labs but it was a bit limited, now I have all my photos stored with picasa and edit from there, I upload to my blog and then enlarge the photos to maximum, the Nikon is new and I am having so much fun with it, let me know if you need any more info. take care, speak soon, hugs, Kathy.
